Project: Texas Education Agency Website Redesign and Content Governance Strategy

Texas is leading a coordinated transition to a redesigned agency website to improve usability, governance, and content management at scale.

The Opportunity

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is transitioning to a redesigned flagship website intended to be useful, accessible, and clear to families, educators, and students. Although the design work is complete, the complexity of migrating and maintaining content across more than 200 content managers presents a significant opportunity for coordination and governance. Clear workflows and shared processes will ensure that this transition occurs in a timely, consistent, and sustainable way.

The Support

The Southwest Comprehensive Center is partnering with TEA to support a coordinated, well-governed transition to the redesigned website. For example, we will focus on establishing clear content integration workflows, intake and tracking processes, and sprint-based planning routines that support cross-office coordination. The Southwest Comprehensive Center is also supporting clarification and documentation of content governance roles and standard operating procedures to build staff capacity and consistency.

Desired Outcomes

As a result of this work, TEA will complete a coordinated and timely migration of content to its redesigned website, supported by clear processes and tools for content managers. In the near term, TEA will launch a more accurate and user-friendly website. Over time, TEA will have durable governance structures that support ongoing content maintenance, cross-office collaboration, and reliable public communication at scale.
