Important Update

We regret to announce that effective February 19, 2025, the Southwest Comprehensive Center has lost its funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Consequently, website updates and maintenance are currently paused. We are committed to exploring all possible avenues to continue our support in the Southwest. We appreciate your understanding.

Teacher Apprenticeship Programs: Spotlight on Arkansas

Arkansas is minimizing the barriers blocking potential teachers from entering the job market, and recruiting apprentices from the communities that need qualified teachers the most.

The Arkansas Teacher Registered Apprenticeship Program is a pathway to becoming a teacher through the statewide Grow Your Own model. The Registered Apprenticeship designation provides paid work experience that leads to high-quality career pathways and allows the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) access to federal funding streams.

This pathway provides money to candidates and mentor teachers serving as journey-level professionals guiding hands-on learning during the apprenticeship.
