Important Update

We regret to announce that effective February 19, 2025, the Southwest Comprehensive Center has lost its funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Consequently, website updates and maintenance are currently paused. We are committed to exploring all possible avenues to continue our support in the Southwest. We appreciate your understanding.

Our States: New Mexico

The New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) is dedicated to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all students. By collaborating with educators, communities, and families, NMPED strives to create a system that nurtures student well-being, empowers their identities, and equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in college, career, and life.

The department's vision is to build on New Mexico's strengths and establish a culturally and linguistically responsive education system that addresses the multifaceted needs of every student.

The four strategic focus areas are:

  • Educator Ecosystem
  • Whole Child and Culturally Responsive Education
  • Profiles and Pathways
  • Asset-Based Support and Opportunities
